Celebrity Dinner Benefitting Don Lugo HS
The Don Lugo High School Associated Student Body and 2010 Fundraising Committee would like to invite you to join us in a wonderful sponsorship opportunity. To reach our fundraising goals to promote academic success and apply the finishing touches on our new stadium, Don Lugo High School is hosting a spectacular evening with superb dining and live auction on April 30th, 2010 at the Western Hills Golf and Country Club. The theme of our evening is “Celebrity Waiter Dinner” where 25 local celebrities - ranging from the Mayor to prominent business people and alumni - will serve, host, and entertain our guests for tips and donations and the coveted “Most Appreciated Waiter” award being given to the waiter who earns the most tips.
This year we need more support than ever since funding shortages at the State and District levels will affect our students directly. With the proceeds raised from this fundraiser, we hope to purchase equipment for the concessions stand and ticketing booth, a new sound system, and a protected cover for the artificial turf. All funds remaining will be directed towards student academic services such as tutoring, educational programs, speakers, seminars, and hands-on learning activities. Your generous donation will go a long way in assisting us in reaching these goals and is tax-deductible. Sponsoring the 2010 Celebrity Waiter Dinner will be a win-win for you and Don Lugo. This year, Don Lugo became the first school in Chino Valley Unified School District to implement a provacative new brand of freshmen orientation called “Link Crew”. At this event, over 400 freshmen showed up — more than any freshmen orientation EVER at Don Lugo. Each new Lugo student was paired with a junior or senior student. Throughout the year, these freshmen will meet with meet with their junior or senior “Link Leader” as a source of support. This event, among many others, is supported by the generous donations of people like you.

Celebrating Student Success
Renaissance Field Day is a yearly event where students who are on track to graduate are awarded with a day of play. This year, the Don Lugo Renaissance Field Day was held in the gym, with 10 Nintendo Wii’s, XBox’s and Playstations on 11 foot screens. The activities featured such games as Mario Kart, Dance Dance Revolution, Super Mario Brother Bash Brawl, and Rock Band. Over 700 students were able to attend this year, thanks to the generous donations of donors like you! Thanks!
Supporting Art at Lugo
On January, 30th Don Lugo Renaissance Foundation granted $500 to the Don Lugo Beats, Arts, Poetry club for easels and lighting for the first annual Don Lugo Community Art Gala and Poetry Night.
Over 130 student artists were represented at this awesome event! Each piece reflected upon the question: “What does graduation mean to you?” One piece, by A. Reyes, called “Choices” pictured a high school senior sitting at a desk with an array of life-changing decisions floating overhear, highlighting the choices students often have to make every day. Another piece, entitled “Accepted”, portrayed a young pregnant woman, emerging from a dark room into the light with a diploma in hand. This piece highlights the reality some young women face in our community.
Thank you to all of you who supported this amazing event!
