On January, 30th Don Lugo Renaissance Foundation granted $500 to the Don Lugo Beats, Arts, Poetry club for easels and lighting for the first annual Don Lugo Community Art Gala and Poetry Night.
Over 130 student artists were represented at this awesome event! Each piece reflected upon the question: “What does graduation mean to you?” One piece, by A. Reyes, called “Choices” pictured a high school senior sitting at a desk with an array of life-changing decisions floating overhear, highlighting the choices students often have to make every day. Another piece, entitled “Accepted”, portrayed a young pregnant woman, emerging from a dark room into the light with a diploma in hand. This piece highlights the reality some young women face in our community.
Thank you to all of you who supported this amazing event!
